Descriptions From Hot Yoga of East Nashville

Buti yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Bikram yoga, Hot yoga, East Nashville

HOT 26

Hot-26 (Bikram Method Yoga) a series of 26 postures completed in a room heated to 100 to 105 degrees at approximately 40% humidity. The heat is helpful in allowing the body to go deeper into the postures safely by increasing the elasticity of the muscles, ligaments, tendons, allowing greater flexibility with a lower risk of injury. The heat also facilitates sweating and detoxification through the pores and skin – the body’s largest eliminating organ. The heat also greatly increases the challenge to the cardiovascular system, allowing for a challenging workout and greater fitness levels to be achieved. Finally, the intensity of the heat deepens the need for concentration and focus, strengthening the student’s willpower and self-control both in the classroom and beyond.

The Hot-26 discipline is an excellent way to develop and maintain a healthy body – it works as a preventative medicine by improving the immune system; detoxifying the muscles, lungs and organs; and preventing arthritis, back pain, and injuries to muscles, ligaments and tendons.

In addition, Hot-26 classes will help regulate weight and/or bring bodies to a healthy weight – each 90-minute class burning between 500 to 1100 calories. The self-control and focus developed in the class will be transferred to all areas of one’s life to improve overall mental and physical health.

POWER YOGA – FLOW

Power Yoga (Vinyasa Flow) yoga is offered for a variety in one’s workout routine. Power Flow classes are taught in a slightly heated room (85 to 90 degrees). The classes and postures are unique and new every day. In this style of yoga, the students flow dynamically between postures, gaining a fun/spontaneous yoga experience.

Power Yoga classes combine standing postures, sun salutations, and floor postures for an energizing, cardiovascular, full-body workout. Power Flow classes combine breath control with postures designed to strengthen the body, develop flexibility and improve stamina. Students note improved core and upper body strength and toning.

Power Yoga classes are fitness-driven and excellent for regulating weight and/or bring bodies to a healthy weight – each 60-minute class burning between 450 to 600 calories.

Shiva Vinyasa

For students newer to yoga or experienced students who wish to reconnect with key elements of their yoga practice, this unheated class focuses on the fundamentals with an emphasis on breath and alignment. Students will be introduced to postures like basic backbends, twists, binds, and have the opportunity for movement, meditation, and relaxation.

Yin Yoga

A style of yoga that focuses on opening the connective tissues in the body, cartilage, ligaments, and joints. Yin Yoga is an unheated class that involves holding deep stretches for longer periods of time – 30 seconds to several minutes – relaxing the body in the poses, and finding stillness. This opening into the deep, dense tissues of the body provides expanded range of movement, healing and repair, lubrication of the joints, and opportunities for meditation. The energetic meridians of the body are believed to run in line with the body’s connective tissues, allowing you to clear and revitalize energetic pathways from your toes to your fingertips.

Restorative Yoga

Similar to Yin, this unheated restorative class with long holds compliments our Power Flow practice by relieving soreness and accumulated stress, improving posture and awareness of breath, and lengthening specific muscles in order to reestablish their ideal tone. This class offers a nourishing, opening practice that incorporates props such as bolsters, tennis balls, and blocks to facilitate healing, the release of tight muscles, trigger points, and surrounding connective tissues.

Awaken & Unwind

This gentle unheated vinyasa is designed to center, nourish and restore after a long week. A sweet slow flow is followed by a luxurious, extended savasana with healing essential oils. Leave feeling clear and refreshed for the week ahead.

Yoga in Life

This once-monthly 75 minute class is unheated and will incorporate meditations, reflective writing and personal inquiry to take the yoga practice from the mat to day to day life. We will gain insight into intentions and places we are stuck. Using this insight we open and heal ourselves and therefore all our relationships. All levels welcome. Please bring a journal and a writing utensil. There will be no yoga poses in this class, except for a comfortable seated position.

Third Wednesday of every month 6:30pm

Ashtanga Primary Series

This is an advanced, unheated practice and we advise that students have previous experience in vinyasa and/or ashtanga yoga asana. The Primary series as taught by K. Pattabhi Jois is practiced in its entirety at a group pace. This dynamic, precise, and progressive sequencing of yoga postures is accompanied by “free breathing with sound” as described by Sharath Jois. Quickly creating internal strength while resolving mental and structural imbalances this class includes full and half lotus positions, arm balances, back bends, and headstands.

Karma Yoga

This is our only 100% cash or check, donation-based class. All of the proceeds from this class are donated to a local or global nonprofit organization whose mission and work inspires us. By attending this class and giving any amount, you are empowering these organizations to continue their work. Check out our blog to learn more about the nonprofits we work with.

Card Payment Solutions USA Guest Blog: Four smart ways to maximize your business through a gift card program

0

Gift cards are a primary option for gifts. More times than not people love receiving gift cards over the actual gifts.  First Data’s report titled: 2018 Prepaid Consumer Insights Study [download]. In the report they asked 2,000 consumers about gift cards. They found over 50% of their annual gifting budget goes toward gift cards. Another 40% of consumers surveyed preferring gift cards over traditional gifts. That’s powerful stuff. Gift cards can be an effective tool for capturing more revenue. It also help in attracting new customers, and building loyalty. To get the most value out of gift cards, you need a solid strategy.

Here are some tips on executing a successful gifts cards program to help you grow your business:

1. Get in the holiday shopping game − even if you’re not a retailer

Many non-retail sectors see increases in sales volume during the holidays. Holiday shopping is still a retailer’s game. During the 2018 holiday shopping season, many factors are set to lift U.S. holiday sales. Some reports as much as 4.8 percent versus 2017. That’s up to $720.89 billion dollars, according to the National Retail Federation.

For small retailers, gift cards are a potential Goliath-slayer. They can help them compete for holiday shopping dollars. It’s predicted that U.S. gift card sales alone will reach $340 billion in 2018. Gift cards also put non-retail businesses in the gift-giving mix. If you are a restaurant or service-based small business, you can capture holiday dollars by offering gift cards. To do this, you’ll first need to create physical or digital gift cards. If you’re a Clover customer, you can use Clover Gift Cards and easily set up either or both types of gift cards, complete with custom branding.

Once created you need to be intentional about marketing them to customers. A step that is crucial for success. Send a series of emails to your customer list announcing the availability of gift cards. Recommend them as a convenient and personal holiday gift-giving option. Publish updates about your program on your social media accounts is a must. Post signage inside your business. Include signage in your restaurant. Optimal locations like counter, host stations, bar and/or dining room tables, register area, waiting areas, and on your window. And train your staff to offer gift cards to patrons while they’re checking out or paying their bill. Up the ante with a prize to the highest-referring employees.

2. Have an in-store upselling strategy for gift card redemptions

You’ve sold gift cards and have the upfront revenue to show for it. It’s a great start, but the promise of gift cards for adding sales lift to your business doesn’t end there.

That’s because of the redemption process. When the recipient comes to your business to buy, it offers your business an opportunity. An opprtunity to earn even more revenue and attract more customers. First Data’s Study shows, on average, that consumers spend $59 more than the original value of their gift card. That’s what makes it so great when they redeem it.

Roll out the red carpet when customers redeem their gift cards. This will further endear them to your business. Retail stores might keep nicely-wrapped accessories behind the counter. This will help add to the new customers’ buy. This strategy can also work for appointment-based businesses. Consider offering sample items that customers can use to extend the life of the service. If you’re a restaurant, you can add a complimentary appetizers, desserts, or drink samples. These are all things that help improve the gift redemption experience.

3. Intentionally promote repeat visits

Gift cards are a great opportunity to encourage repeat visits among new customers. That increases the lifetime value of the customer. Making the ROI larger on the investment for your gift card program. Don’t leave this up to chance. Here are specific actions to convert gift card redeemers into loyal customers.

Leverage gift cards to build loyalty. First Data’s 2018 Prepaid Consumer Insights Study showed that 61 percent of consumers surveyed said they prefer to receive a gift card as a reward for loyalty over a coupon or bonus.

Since they are using a gift card to buy, you’re in a great position to add them to your loyalty program upon redemption. For example, if you offer $5 dollars in store cash for every $100 spent, and your new customer has used their $100 gift card, then add a $5 credit to the same card as a “sign up bonus” for your loyalty programThe nice thing about this tactic is that while it will feel like an additional bonus to the recipient, who didn’t pay for the card in the first place, it will be business as usual for you.

Sign them up for communications. Your staff can also encourage gift card users to sign up  to receive texts, emails, and/or mail. You can then offer an exclusive deal or bonus points to shoppers who have enrolled for the first time. (If they’re already on your mailing list as a gift card user, you can set limitations, so certain deals do not apply).

There are two primary benefits to this tactic. 1) You’ll capture their contact information. Which offers you an opportunity to reach them with new promotions over time. 2) You will force them to sign up with you before offering additional perks. This increases the likelihood that any additional deal will promote higher lifetime value for that customer. Increasing the return on investment for your business.

4. Track your performance, adjust and repeat

Our customers who use a Clover have most of the data they need from the dashboard. It’s a way to see how these tips and tactics work for your actual business, and to understand what adjustments you’ll need to make in order to improve the program over time. If you are using a traditional Credit Card terminal you will have to create a tracking system to review. Remember: While the holidays can offer a nice boost in gift card activity, gift cards are a great marketing and loyalty tool that you can implement year ‘round.

Here are two gift card program numbers that you should track for starters:

Redemption percentage. What percentage of gift cards sold are being redeemed? Again, while gift card sales represent upfront revenue for your business, redemption is where the real action is, offering an opportunity for you to collect additional revenue. Remember: People usually spend more than the original value of their gift card.

Average ticket size for all customers vs. gift card customers. This number is a great metric for gauging how much spending differs between these two customer types. We have to talk about lifetime value again here: If spending is relatively low during the initial visit, but that new customer comes back and spends with your business again, that could mean in terms of lifetime value, your gift card program is well worth the investment.

For more helpful insights about how consumers are using gift cards, and specific ways that gift cards can help grow your business, download Clover’s full infographic, “The Power of the Gift Card.” Not using a Clover Point of Sale you can contact your Card Payment Solutions USA Agent for the best way to take advantage of a gift card program.

Float Nashville, the perfect Holiday Gift For Creatives.

0

We have a friend who absolutely swears by Float tanks and recently they experienced it at Float Nashville. But what is Float?

Don’t take it from us, from Float Nashville:

Floatation therapy isn’t new. Developed 60 years ago during research, the float tank showed surprising, promising, side effects that began a series of research. You may have heard floatation therapy referred to as REST (restricted environmental stimulant therapy). And you may know the tanks as Sensory Deprivation Tanks. But these days, we like to keep it simple and to the point and just call them float tanks. And they are changing lives.

Want to know more about what the power of salt, water and sensory reduction can do for you? This is far from a complete list. Clinical research is currently booming in the field of floatation and we are excited to see where the journey takes us. And we’re even more excited to find out where floating takes you.

Float for Stress Relief

There is a deep relaxation that can’t be found anywhere else but in the float tank. With 90% of gravity off your body and very little sensory input, your central nervous system gets a break. During the float your body decreases the release of hormones and neurotransmitters that have a stressful effect on your body and increase the beneficial chemicals such as those feel-good endorphins. Your body is completely supported, bobbing on the surface of water and the result is profound relaxation.

 CHRONIC PAIN

People are finding relief every day from symptoms of Fibromyalgia, Low Back Pain, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Scoliosis, and more. The Fibromyalgia Research Study is over, but you can see the results from the first study online. If you live with chronic pain, we will soon be launching our Float4Health program. Head over to our Float4Health page to see if you qualify.

 ANXIETY

Recent float research has been focused on anxiety and the results are promising! In a study released this year, research conducted at the Human Performance Laboratory at Karlstad University in Sweden showed statistically significant stress reduction, increased energy, decreased anxiety and depression when compared to the control group.  And six months later all benefits, except depression, were going strong. In an article in TIME magazine regarding floating and research it was said, “The ongoing research is in its very early stages, but Feinstein and his team are seeing that floating tamps down anxiety in the brain in a way that rivals some prescription drugs and meditation.” *

*this study has been completed and the results are exciting! More information coming soon.

 RECOVERY

When you value the time you put into your goals in the gym or for an event, everything you do counts. Floating helps to speed recovery after peak output and helps decrease fatigue and that “post-race letdown”. From the Olympics to pro to college level athletes and weekend warriors, floating is used to focus the mind and recover from injuries and workouts.

 PREGNANCY

During this important time, the float tank creates a nurturing, quiet environment where Mama and baby can enjoy a time to bond and prepare for birth. Floating is safe for pregnancy and can help alleviate backache, swollen ankles and sore feet, joint pain, exhaustion, stress and anxiety. After birth, floating is a wonderful way to relax and recharge and can even help bridge gaps in a new mama’s sleep schedule. Have more questions? Start with our Pregnancy FAQ for answers.

 MEDITATION

Reaching a deep meditative state (the theta state) can be difficult. Most of us only experience it briefly before falling asleep at night. We know how good it is for our brains to disconnect from the constant noise and input of our digital world, but this same noise can make a regular meditation practice hard to achieve. In the unique environment of the float tank, brainwaves slow down and slide right into that theta state in even the most inexperienced of meditators. In fact studies show similar brain activity happens in the tank that one sees in high-level meditators.

 SLEEP

So often floaters tell us about the blissful night of sleep they have after their float. And there’s something to be said for the deep relaxing sleep to be had while sleeping, supported, in the float tank. It’s perfectly safe! When we travel across time lines, we always look for a float center. Floating resets our bodies and helps us avoid the not-so-fun side effects of jet lag. And we’re not the only ones feeling better rested. Check out this floating experience of a sleep specialist.

 PTSD

More and more stories are coming out of people using float tanks as part of their journey with PTSD. Clinical research has begun at LIBR in 2016 and we look forward to the results and certainly hope they reflect the stories we hear at Float Nashville of people finding relief from PTSD symptoms, less anxiety and better sleep.

 CREATIVITY

Artists and entrepreneurs, rejoice! Studies indicate that floating may suspend the dominance of the detail-oriented hemisphere of our brain, allowing the right hemisphere to run free without interference and giving you greater access to creativity, visualization and imagination which can lead to solving problems. Float House has as great article on creativity and floating. Check it out!
