Shiva Vinyasa

For students newer to yoga or experienced students who wish to reconnect with key elements of their yoga practice, this unheated class focuses on the fundamentals with an emphasis on breath and alignment. Students will be introduced to postures like basic backbends, twists, binds, and have the opportunity for movement, meditation, and relaxation.

Yin Yoga

A style of yoga that focuses on opening the connective tissues in the body, cartilage, ligaments, and joints. Yin Yoga is an unheated class that involves holding deep stretches for longer periods of time – 30 seconds to several minutes – relaxing the body in the poses, and finding stillness. This opening into the deep, dense tissues of the body provides expanded range of movement, healing and repair, lubrication of the joints, and opportunities for meditation. The energetic meridians of the body are believed to run in line with the body’s connective tissues, allowing you to clear and revitalize energetic pathways from your toes to your fingertips.

Restorative Yoga

Similar to Yin, this unheated restorative class with long holds compliments our Power Flow practice by relieving soreness and accumulated stress, improving posture and awareness of breath, and lengthening specific muscles in order to reestablish their ideal tone. This class offers a nourishing, opening practice that incorporates props such as bolsters, tennis balls, and blocks to facilitate healing, the release of tight muscles, trigger points, and surrounding connective tissues.

Awaken & Unwind

This gentle unheated vinyasa is designed to center, nourish and restore after a long week. A sweet slow flow is followed by a luxurious, extended savasana with healing essential oils. Leave feeling clear and refreshed for the week ahead.

Yoga in Life

This once-monthly 75 minute class is unheated and will incorporate meditations, reflective writing and personal inquiry to take the yoga practice from the mat to day to day life. We will gain insight into intentions and places we are stuck. Using this insight we open and heal ourselves and therefore all our relationships. All levels welcome. Please bring a journal and a writing utensil. There will be no yoga poses in this class, except for a comfortable seated position.

Third Wednesday of every month 6:30pm

Ashtanga Primary Series

This is an advanced, unheated practice and we advise that students have previous experience in vinyasa and/or ashtanga yoga asana. The Primary series as taught by K. Pattabhi Jois is practiced in its entirety at a group pace. This dynamic, precise, and progressive sequencing of yoga postures is accompanied by “free breathing with sound” as described by Sharath Jois. Quickly creating internal strength while resolving mental and structural imbalances this class includes full and half lotus positions, arm balances, back bends, and headstands.

Karma Yoga

This is our only 100% cash or check, donation-based class. All of the proceeds from this class are donated to a local or global nonprofit organization whose mission and work inspires us. By attending this class and giving any amount, you are empowering these organizations to continue their work. Check out our blog to learn more about the nonprofits we work with.

Yoga Under the Stars, Saturday September 29th, at Adventure Science Center!

0
Stunning NASA visualizations, 6.5 million stars, and inner peace await at Yoga Under the Stars. This event at the Adventure Science Center. Each session will begin with breath work, continue with positions to elevate the heart, and end in savasana to relax the body and the mind.
While normal yoga practices focus on finding inner peace, Yoga Under the Stars brings an outward shift to the experience. The stunning visuals displayed on the Sudekum Planetarium’s magnificent 63-foot dome inspire thought on the scale of the universe and humanity’s place within it.

The darkness combined with a 360-degree view of the stars can disorient some yogis making achieving balance an even more challenging activity… meaning it’s perfect for intermediate-level yogis looking for a unique, new experience.

Each session will begin with breath work, continue with positions to elevate the heart, and end in savasana to relax the body and the mind.

Don’t forget to BYOM – Bring Your Own Mat!

COST: $17 for ASC members; $22 for non-members
Spaces are limited – register in advance!

Yoga Under the Stars is held the last Saturday of each month in the Sudekum Planetarium, unless otherwise noted. Subject to change.

Three Misleading Techniques Used by Other Credit Card Processors!

0
Shopping around for credit card processing services? You’ve realize that is not the most honest industry. Hoping to find a straight answer to your question?

We made a list to help YOU avoid the problems of the credit card processing industry. We’ve made a list of the top three things to watch out for when shopping for credit card processing services.

#1   Teaser Rates

Credit card processors love to advertise rates “as low as” i.e. 1.59%. Unlucky for us all this is a lie. There are not any standards for advertising in the merchant service industry. What they don’t disclose are all the extra fees. You’ll see “assessment fees”, “card-brand fees”, “mark-ups” and non-qualified charges added on top.

#2   Lease Agreements You Can Never Cancel

“Why rent when you can own?” We hear it all the time.

But here is the catch… Instead of selling you a terminal at a fair sale price, they will lock you into a 60-month leasing agreement. Not to mention with a 25% buy-out clause and a high interest rate. By the time you’re done with your lease, you paid thousands of dollars for a terminal worth a few hundred.

Why are equipment leases so common? Because those processors get a very large up-front commission from the leasing company. So leases are in their best interest, not yours. Watch the bigger bank names. These tend to happen from them in our area.

#3   Contract Cancelation Fees

Most processors have cancelation fees or early termination fees. They forgo providing a good service at a good rate to keep your business. Instead they install long-term contracts. This to try and deter merchants from switching to a more affordable provider.

Budd Boetticher Double Feature: THE TALL T + DECISION AT SUNDOWN: Introduction from Kin Cosner, Vanderbilt University at Belcourt Theatre.

0

Budd Boetticher Double Feature: THE TALL T + DECISION AT SUNDOWN: Introduction from Kin Cosner, Vanderbilt University (retired) (12:30pm)

THE TALL T:
Randolph Scott plays a ranch hand who boards the wrong stagecoach, soon to be waylaid by Richard Boone and his outlaws, with heiress Maureen O’Sullivan held for ransom by the gang. The third of the seven-film Ranown Cycle (produced by Randolph Scott and Harry Joe Brown) is an exemplary summit meeting of top Western chroniclers, with Budd Boetticher skillfully blending tension and wit in his handling of Burt Kennedy’s taut script. Based on Elmore Leonard’s story “The Captive,” the first of the author’s works to reach the big screen. THE TALL T is the quintessential Boetticher Western, with a stark story playing out in a rugged, rocky landscape, and the hero and villain spending the film sizing each other up and down—taunting each other—before finally having it out in a showdown.

DECISION AT SUNDOWN:
Bart Allison (Randolph Scott) rides into a sleepy town named Sundown with the intention of killing local boss Tate Kimbrough (John Carroll) by day’s end. Some years earlier, Kimbrough had an affair with Allison’s wife, who later committed suicide, and the tensions build as sundown approaches—not just between Allison and Kimbrough, but among the townspeople as well. In keeping with Boetticher’s own experience in Mexican bullrings, the climactic action takes on the spatial and spiritual overtones of a corrida in this odd entry to the canon.
