Daniel from Poverty & The Arts

0

We love the Poverty & The Arts Features. This is Daniel: “POVA opens up new opportunities and the growth to express ourselves through the work we do. Art is about sharing our experiences.” -Daniel Daniel joined our Artist Collective in December 2018 and was homeless for 3 years before moving into Stadium Inn and then Casa Blanca Apartments in 2019. Daniel loves graphite, acrylic painting, and art in the gothic and renaissance periods. He has been making art for ten years and loves learning to express beauty through different mediums. His favorite part about art is to see people smile from one of his finished pieces. Daniel wants to give back with his art and hopes to use part of the income he generates by selling his artwork to create a nonprofit that would provide food and support for single-parent families. His past creative experiences include traveling the U.S. as a freelance artist experimenting with a range of genres from landscapes to personal portraits. Want to get involved with this fantastic organization click over to their website: povertyandthearts.org

Do Yourself a Favor, Go See Parasite at The Belcourt Theatre!

0

Rocky Horror Picture Show may be sold out at The Belcourt but there is still room to see one of our favorite movies of 2019, Parasite! Greed and class discrimination threatens the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. We were fortunate to see this AMAZING, Parasite 🦠 ! Make sure to get to Belcourt this weekend for what should be a Best Picture nominee.

Ousley Ouch Nashville’s Locally Made Salsa Has Our Salsa Loving Hearts.

0

Being raised on the Left Coast my love developed early for Latin food and Mexican food specifically. The local food made with local produce and that freshly made salsa or guacamole was to die for. We often times would just camp out next to the table dipping chips into that salsa and guac. It’s been a long time since I had that feeling eating salsa (other than our frequent trips to the City of Angels). Well, our heart sings again when we first tried Ousely Ouch Salsa.

Their Story

Two decades ago, Ric and his sister Mona Ousley craved a salsa that they simply could not find anywhere.  So in true American fashion, they decided to make their own salsa.  After much experimenting and taste-testing, they finally created a salsa that perfectly piqued their palate.  They  take pride in their  salsa – its ingredients and their methods.  Ousley Ouch Salsa  has a thick and chunky texture which comes from the onions and jalapeno peppers which are diced by hand.  The jalapenos are grown locally on a farm in Nahville where at times the jalapenos are added to the batches within hours of picking.  Aside from the fresh onions and jalapenos, at least over a dozen herbs and spices are used to create the magical flavor that has family and friends saying, “Ouch!  I can’t stop eating!”
