Help Your Neighbor. Volunteer at The Nashville Rescue Mission

0

We’re All Busy.

Giving time and helping our fellow citizens is so important. If you are blessed, give. If you need to connect more deeply with the community for a cause to uplift your fellow man, give time. Bring your kids. Some of my best memories from my childhood were helping in shelters serving. Not just on holidays but just because it’s a Tuesday.

At Nashville Rescue Mission, they partner with thousands of volunteers each year to touch lives for today and for eternity.
Join the Mission’s team of volunteers and show compassion, love, and kindness to our neighbors in need. Click here to volunteer: nashvillerescuemission.org

Love Heals from Thistle Farms Soy Candles are awesome. Many of you may already know the story behind these candles but for those who don’t let us share. Thistle Farms is a non-profit business where women who have survived lives of violence, prostitution, and abuse, are employed to create natural bath and beauty products. The sales of all their products go back to support the operation. This is where #NashvilleGivesBack by Buying Local! Click here to buy, support and make a better Nashville: https://thistlefarms.org/

Murals of North Nashville at Frist Art Museum!

0

With Nashville’s rapid growth in recent years, a vibrant street art scene has emerged. New murals can be seen on walls across the city, from The Nations to the Gulch to Nolensville Road. Murals found in North Nashville, a historically African American part of town, stand out because they are typically made by artists with strong ties to the neighborhood and because much of the imagery reflects both its rich history and current social issues.
A young generation of artists—many following in the tradition of Tennessee State University professors Sam Dunson and Michael McBride, and mentors Michael “Ol Skool” Mucker, James Threalkill, and Thaxton Waters—will offer their perspectives on the present position of North Nashville through newly commissioned site-specific murals. Imagery will demonstrate the multifaceted nature of its identity and speak to persistent problems facing the community such as displacement, gun violence, and incarceration, as well as positive aspects like thriving black-owned businesses, a revitalized art scene, and valuable educational institutions. Artists will work with youth at McGruder Family Resource Center to create a collaborative mural that will also be on view at the Frist.

This exhibition shines a light on a culturally and historically important, yet often underserved, Nashville community. The project also explores what role the arts play in urban redevelopment and in the expression of the neighborhood and individual identities, further testifying that art can be found all around us, not just inside museums and galleries. “Murals of North Nashville Now” is taking place at Frist Art Museum Now through January 5th!

Eliminate Merchant Fees with the Cash Discount Program!

0

Cut Merchant Fees with the Cash Discount Program from JadaPay! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it’s not. We have many clients from Liquor Stores, Salons, Counter Service Restaurants and more using this new program. You may be wondering, “What is a ‘Cash Discount Program?’”Credit card processing can come with some hefty fees and is becoming expensive for merchants. This is especially a challenge for small businesses with small budgets. Interchange fees, otherwise known as swipe fees, can become a financial burden on small businesses. This is where the cash discount program comes in. If you are a business owner, big or small, you’ve most likely heard something about the cash discount program in the merchant service industry. Yet, this program has come with a fair amount of confusion. Many wonder about what the program can and can’t do. We are going to take a closer, more detailed, look at what this program. We’ll give you the information you need to help decide if this is the right merchant service for you.

Zero Credit Card Processing Fees

Offering our cash discount program to customers, businesses are able to cut 100% of their processing fees. In this situation, merchants must display a customer-pricing notice. This will inform each customer about the customer service fee that is charged on all transactions. An easy example. A merchant charges a 4% service fee. On each item, the notice will reflect that a product or service that lists at $100 will actually be $105. That is unless the customer is paying with cash. In this case, the customer paying with cash will receive a discount. The service fee charge goes away and they only pay the original $100. Convenience or surcharge fees are not the same as a cash discount program. You may be asking yourself, “Would it not be easier to settle with increasing the price by 4% and call it a day?” That’s a fair question, and, the result may or may not be the same in the end. Yet, the transparency with the cash discount program will be a detail that is not lost on your customers. The Cash Discount Program is an automated program. Where surcharge fees are manually calculated. This requires pricing increases across the board. That results in customers always paying “full” price. Customers generally favor the option of saving by paying with cash. In short, show me someone who doesn’t like to save money on purchases and I’ll show you a liar. Give the people what they want and your business will benefit in return.

A Marketing Tool The cash discount program is a great marketing tool. It will attract new customers. Customers love the word “sale.” Most stores will display a “sale” sign year-round to lure customers into their store. Getting people in the store, sale or not is the ultimate goal. They come in for the sale items and walk out with much more. Although a 4% discount across the board does help merchants. A cash discount program is a powerful tool when implemented. Being able to cut up to 100% of processing fees is something that is alluring to most merchants. This is also something that merchant level salespeople (MLSs) enjoy as well. The higher than average margins that come with the program mean they make more as well. This is an amazing opportunity for the industry. That’s why we warn you to be wary of MLSs and ISOs (International Standards Organization). Some are exploiting the program and following less than ethical practices. When choosing a partner we hope you choose Card Payment Solutions. Find out more today. Message us on Facebook or contact us via email at NashvilleBuyLocal@Gmail.com

Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists opens September 27th at Frist Museum!

0

This is the first major museum exhibition exclusively devoted to Native women artists from all over the United States and Canada, ranging across time and media. Developed in close cooperation with leading Native artists and historians, the exhibition offers multiple perspectives to enhance understanding of Native art practices. The approximately 115 objects in the exhibition, including textiles, baskets, jewelry, painting, sculpture, photography, video, and digital art, are organized into sections that reflect why Native women create art. Hearts of Our People not only helps visitors understand the traditional role of Native women artists in serving the cultural, economic, diplomatic, and domestic needs of their communities but also goes beyond the longstanding convention of treating these artworks as unattributed representations of entire cultures. The contemporary works on view, in particular, highlight the intentionality of the individual artist and demonstrate how the artist has been influenced by the preceding generations. The exhibition will be accompanied by interactive interpretive “ArtStories” in multiple media and a scholarly catalog.
