Harmony Lane Farm & Creamery Grade A Dairy and Grade A Farm Tours!

0

Kids and family’s love the tours at Harmony Lane Farm & Creamery! Come visit their goat nursery where a $5 donation allows you to cuddle with baby goats in our specially designed inside goat nursery, grab a chair and go in with the baby goats, pet them, hold them, and feel the LOVE.

You can also use the treat dispenser to feed the teenager goats next to the nursery. Shop at the farm store and take home some farm fresh meat, cheese, fudge, goat milk soap and lotion, and don’t forget their full line of crocheted goats to take home as a memory of your goat experience.

Please contact them if you are interested in guided tours of our farm.

Tours take about an hour depending on weather. $14.00 a person 2 and under FREE.

They provide guided tours including all barns where they will answer questions and you will learn about how they care for the animals. You’ll have an opportunity to milk a goat by hand, hold and bottle feed babies (the baby goat activities are seasonal). See the milking parlor, learn about the cheese making process. You’ll also see cows, calves, pigs, piglets, and free range chickens.

Most of the tour takes place outdoors and there is a minimum amount of walking involved. Please keep in mind that this is a working farm and dress accordingly – clothes and shoes that you wouldn’t mind if they happened to get dirty.

Plan on sampling fresh goat cheese and goat milk fudge. All of the products will be available for purchase after the tour.

Parnassus Books Presents Author Event With Inman Majors!

0

Parnassus Books Tuesday welcomes Inman Majors as he discusses and signs Penelope Lemon Game On!

“Penelope Lemon is a recent divorcée, closet Metallica fan, and accidental subversive to all the expectations of suburban motherhood. After ending her marriage with James, a woodsy intellectual who favors silky kimonos too short for his knobby knees, Penelope finds herself, at forty, living with her randy mother in her childhood home. Broke and desperate for work, she waitresses at Coonskins, a frontier-themed restaurant where the decor is heavy on stuffed mammals and discarded peanut shells.

Despite the pitfalls of balancing parental duties, jobs, and the vagaries of middle-age life, Penelope pushes through one obstacle after another, trying to regain her independence. Whether fumbling through the world of online dating; coping with a bullying situation involving her son, Theo, something of a gastric wonder on the school bus; or wrestling with the discovery of nude photos from her carefree college days that are not quite as “artistic” as she remembers, Penelope gradually emerges as a modern-day heroine who navigates the assorted inanities of life with verve and humor.

Audacious and laugh-out-loud funny, Inman Majors’ new novel holds up a fun-house mirror to the relatable challenges of being a single parent in the digital age. All those who live by the beat of their own drum gain a coconspirator, an accomplice, and a champion in the unstoppable Penelope Lemon.”

This event is at Parnassus Books (3900 Hillsboro Pike, Ste 14) August 14 at 6 PM – 7:30 PM!

Liz Cooper & the Stampede Live at Grimey’s & release show at The Blue Room this Friday!

0

We’ve listened to Liz Cooper & the Stampede recently and we’re digging what we’re hearing. You too can listen at Grimey’s and The Blue Room this week.

Grimey’s at 6pm Friday:

There is a collective energy in Nashville, one that Liz Cooper has poured herself into for the past six years. Liz remarks that the energy in Nashville today is akin to that of Greenwich Village in 1960s New York or the Laurel Canyon days in the 1960s and 1970s and is a product of a collaborative approach to music and art. This community has allowed Liz to be apart of many magically haphazard nights, where the movers and shakers of the Nashville music world, such as Okey Dokey, Becca Mancari, Rayland Baxter, Desert Noises, Morning Teleportation, Erin Rae, Brittany Howard, Cage the Elephant, Michael Nau and many more converge to make music and art and lose track of time. Her latest album Window Flowers is a product of that pulsating energy in Nashville that has had some of the greatest influence in her work. Liz Cooper & The Stampede will celebrate the release of Window Flowers with a free live performance at Grimey’s!

The Blue Room at 8pm Friday:

yassssssss. our release show/art experience/sparkly after party dance sesh is happening a week from today! RSVP at lizcooperandthestampede.com/rsvp – doors are first come first serve, so get there early. This is going to be so v cool.
